Joining is easy, simply come to a meeting, and bring your work. If you like what you see, you'll want to join up with the League of Utah Writers as a member of our Cache Valley Chapter.
Everyone's nervous the first time they share their work. We've all been there; we all understand. Here are some tips that should help you through.
When being critiqued:
- Pay attention
- Try not to be defensive
- Don't be afraid to ask for advice. Its not just about critique, it's also about support and collaboration
- Remember to listen to what the group has to say, then take what you can use and leave the rest. It's your manuscript after all.
When offering critique:
- Be respectful
- Be honest
- Be specific
- Don't be afraid to offer suggestions or advice
